Acacia End Grain Butcher Block
A proper butchers block, built to last a lifetime
- 7.5 cm thick solid acacia
- Self healing end grain construction, protects your knife edges
- 38 cm × 30 cm prep surface
- Chequerboard of caramel, honey and chocolate tones
At a substantial 7.5 cm thick, this is a true butcher's block of a kind you'll rarely find, the sort of solid, weighty surface once reserved for professional kitchens and traditional butchers, now designed for your home.
Built as a true end grain block, the acacia stands on end so the knife slips between the fibres rather than across them. The surface quietly absorbs the blade, resists visible knife marks, and helps keep your edge sharp.
With a generous 38 cm x 30 cm prep surface, there's room to work properly, breaking down a joint, portioning meat, or prepping a full meal without shuffling ingredients aside.
A deep juice groove runs around the surface to catch the juices from a resting roast, keeping your worktop clean, while carved handles on each side make a genuinely heavy block manageable to lift and move.
Its sheer weight means it stays exactly where you put it, with none of the sliding or flexing of a lesser board.
Beautiful enough to leave out on the worktop and built to be used every day, this is a block to cook on for years, one that only grows richer and more characterful with age.
As with all natural wood, colour and grain vary from block to block, so no two are ever quite alike.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose acacia wood for a chopping board?
Acacia is a dense tropical hardwood that's naturally hard wearing and water resistant, thanks to its high natural oil content. It stands up to daily use far better than softer woods or bamboo, resists moisture and staining, and has a beautiful, richly varied grain. It's also naturally kind to your knives, helping to preserve your blade's edge.
Is acacia wood antibacterial?
Yes. Like many hardwoods, acacia has natural antibacterial properties, and its tight, dense grain gives bacteria far less opportunity to take hold than scored plastic does. Washing by hand after each use and drying thoroughly keeps your board hygienic.
Is acacia wood gentle on knives?
Yes. Genuine hardwood has enough natural give to cushion the blade as it cuts, unlike hard plastic, which blunt knives quickly. End grain boards are especially kind to knives, as the blade slips between the wood fibres rather than scraping across them.
What's the difference between end grain, edge grain and live edge boards?
End grain boards are built with the wood fibres standing upright, so the knife meets the tips of the fibres, this makes for a self healing surface that resists knife marks and is the gentlest on your blades (the construction used in professional butcher's blocks).
Edge grain boards have the fibres running lengthways, giving a hard wearing, stable surface that's excellent value for everyday use.
Live edge boards keep the natural, flowing outer contour of the timber, making each one unique in shape and character.
How do I care for my acacia chopping board?
Wash by hand in warm, soapy water after each use and dry it standing on its edge so air can circulate. Never put it in the dishwasher and never leave it to soak, as prolonged water exposure can cause wood to warp or crack. Treat it well and it will last for many years.
My board looks slightly scarred from knife marks. Is this normal?
Absolutely. Wood is a natural material designed to take the brunt of your knife blades to protect them from going blunt. While edge grain and live edge boards will show scars over time, you can easily restore them. Simply give the dry board a light sanding with fine grit sandpaper, wipe away the dust, and reapply board oil to make it look brand new.
How often should I oil my chopping board?
We recommend oiling roughly once a month, or whenever the wood starts to look dry. Use a food safe mineral oil or a dedicated board oil, applied with a cloth and left to soak in.
Regular oiling nourishes the wood, keeps it water resistant, and deepens its natural colour over time.
Are your acacia boards sustainably sourced?
Yes. Acacia is a fast maturing hardwood, making it a more responsible choice than many slower growing timbers, so you get a premium, long lasting board without the environmental cost.
