Placement & Safety Guide

To ensure your upcycled birdhouse provides a safe, happy home for your local birds, please follow these essential positioning guidelines. Because this house is crafted from upcycled tin and features vibrant colors, proper placement is the most important step.

1. Keep it Cool (Avoid Direct Sun)

Metal can heat up quickly in the sun. To prevent the interior from overheating:

Shade is Mandatory: Mount the birdhouse in a fully shaded area (such as under a thick tree canopy, a north-facing wall, or a deep porch).

North/East Facing: Ideally, face the entrance hole between North and East. This protects the birds from the strongest midday sun and prevailing wet weather.

Avoid Southern Exposure: Never place the birdhouse on a south-facing wall or in an open area where it will receive direct sunlight.

2. Stay Hidden from Predators
Bright colors are beautiful for us, but they can catch the eye of predators like cats, hawks, or crows.

Height: Mount the house at least 2–4 meters (6–13 feet) off the ground.

Clear Flight Path: Ensure there is a clear flight path to the entrance, but keep it tucked away from easy "perch" spots where a cat might sit and wait.

Deterrence: Avoid placing it near fences or low-hanging branches that could act as a ladder for predators.

3. Stable Mounting
Ensure the house is fixed firmly so it doesn’t sway in the wind.

Tilt the house slightly forward when mounting; this helps driving rain run off rather than soaking into the entrance hole.

Pro-Tip: If you live in an exceptionally hot climate, we recommend using these birdhouses primarily as decorative garden art or "roosting sites" during cooler months rather than for summer nesting.
