How We Make Our Upcycled Tin Products
Sourcing and Preparation
The sustainable journey begins by sourcing reclaimed metal—such as old food tins and salvaged sheeting—which prevents waste.
These materials are then thoroughly cleaned, stripped, and flattened to remove all impurities, rust, and original coatings, creating a clean and workable canvas.
Precision Cutting
Using the prepared metal, the craftsperson carefully marks and cuts each sheet to the precise templates required for the final design.
This stage requires skill and precision to create the individual components—like the body, legs, and wings—that will form the sculpture.
Welding and Assembly
This stage brings the design to life. The individual cut metal pieces (such as body sections, wings, and legs) are expertly welded or soldered together to form the final three-dimensional sculpture.
This hand-assembly ensures the strength and durability of the ornament while highlighting the skill and craftsmanship involved.
Finishing and Character
To complete the piece, each ornament is given a final protective finish. This typically involves sanding to enhance the metal's unique texture, followed by painting or lacquering to add vibrant colours and guard against the elements.
The result is a unique, characterful piece ready to bring sustainable charm to your home or garden.
