Vitreous Enamel Signs
The creation of our vitreous enamel signs is a long process that fuses powdered glass to a heavy-gauge steel plate at temperatures exceeding 800°C.
Each color is a separate layer, individually applied by hand and fired in a kiln, giving the finished product a distinct depth and glossy finish. This traditional, multi-step method results in an incredibly durable sign that will never rust, fade, or peel.
This is why our signs stand apart from mass-produced copies, which are simply printed onto a thin metal sheet and lack the lasting quality and craftsmanship of genuine vitreous enamel.

Will the sign rust, fade, or peel?
No. A key benefit of vitreous enamel is its incredible resistance to the elements. The fused glass layer creates a non-porous surface that is impervious to rust. The colours are part of the fused glass, so they will not fade from UV exposure, unlike printed signs. The finish is also extremely durable and won't peel or flake, ensuring your sign maintains its colour for decades.
How can I tell if a sign is a genuine vitreous enamel product?
A genuine vitreous enamel sign has a distinct weight and feel. The surface will be incredibly smooth and glossy, with a deep, rich color that seems to have a translucent quality. You may also notice a slight raised edge where the different colors meet.
